Forums: IndexCommunity discussionsShould bureaucrats have more power on IRC? | Forum new Post

I'm not sure why I never considered this before but I feel that this is a good time to pitch this idea. Given that my IRC activity is somewhat declining, I think that bureaucrats (Bleeh, Random Ranaun and Woganhemlock) should have the user flags +vVotsriRfA on IRC, which will allow them to modify user flags much in the same way they can on the wiki. I would still have the user flags +vVotsriRfAF being the IRC contact but the bureaucrats would be able to do the vast majority of whatever my flags allow me to do.

I think this will be a good idea as it gives bureaucrats the same level of IRC "authority" as they have on-wiki and there would still be someone to manage user flags and such in the case that I "pull a Duskey".

Before anything happens, I would like to know what everyone else thinks, particularly those who are regularly on the IRC channel. Lost Labyrinth Flag united kingdom england (c)(b) 09:04, February 10, 2012 (UTC)

Fine by me. Between myself and the other three bureaucrats who are active on IRC there'd pretty much always be someone on there keeping an eye out. As well as that we'll be able to avoid the whole fiasco which lead to us having to make a new IRC channel last year. IIRC +f or one of them is successor or something so that we'll be able to take control of GG disappears or something. ђ talk 10:17, February 10, 2012 (UTC)
Just in case you won't be available at the IRC, I think it's fair to give them the flags. Nikel Talk 10:33, February 10, 2012 (UTC)
Seeing as there is no opposition, we may as well let it go ahead. Lost Labyrinth Flag united kingdom england (c)(b) 19:10, February 11, 2012 (UTC)
