Hi, I have done a few image updates at various topics, changing print screen images into the ones used by the game (extracted from the game). But there is a problem, sometimes the extensions do not match. So far it has only been about two images that has had another extension, but on the Favourites page the most are in .jpg but the game uses .png. What should I do (the images is used on other places too, and .jpg does not support transparency)? [[User:Henek|Henek]] 21:41, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

:If you need to change the extension of a file, you need to upload the new file seperately, edit the file link in the article and then mark the old image for speedydeletion since duplicates are [[The Sims Wiki:Candidates for speedy deletion|candidates for speedy deletion]]. A perfect example would be to include a link to the old file to an admin can quickly see if you are indeed marking a duplicate file, before he or she deletes it. It would look something like this <code><nowiki>{{Speedydelete|Duplicate of [[:File:Placeholder.jpg]]}}</nowiki></code>. In this particular event with the images being used by [[The Sims Wiki:Userboxes|userboxes]] across many userpages, the normal delete marking is correct since we'll need to figure out if the userpages will update to the new image automatically or if we need to edit them manually for it to work. If we just delete the old files we may end up with many broken userpages. See [[Category talk:Candidates for deletion#Color images]] for a discussion. Hi, I have done a few image updates at various topics, changing print screen images into the ones used by the game (extracted from the game). But there is a problem, sometimes the extensions do not match. If you need to change the extension of a file, you need to upload the new file seperately, edit the file link in the article and then mark the old image for speedydeletion since duplicates are candidates for speedy deletion. A perfect example would be to include a link to the old file to an admin can quickly see if you are indeed marking a duplicate file, before he or she deletes it. It would look something like this {{Speedydelete|Duplicate of [[:File:Placeholder.jpg]]}}. In this particular event with the images being used by userboxes across many userpages, the normal delete marking is correct since we'll need to figure out if the userpages will update to the new image automatically or if we need to edit them manually for it to work. If we just delete the old files we may end up with many broken userpages. See Category talk:Candidates for deletion#Color images for a discussion. Duskey(talk) 00:27, August 19, 2010 (UTC)
