A member of FANDOM (aka Wikia) Staff has contacted several administrators on The Sims Wiki, asking if we would like to activate the "Discussions" feature on The Sims Wiki. The administrators contacted have not taken action on this request because activating the feature is obviously a decision that belongs to the wiki community, not merely the wiki's administrators. So, let's have it.

The question is simple: do you support activating the Discussions feature on The Sims Wiki, and why/why not? -- LiR talk · blog · contribs 02:37, January 18, 2018 (UTC)

The current wiki-style forums on the wiki are well established and I don't see much reason to replace them. I dislike how non-registered users are not able to participate in discussions, as IPs are humans too, and since we ought to respect people's decisions not to register for an account, it seems unfair to exclude them from community discussions. I'm also not happy with how Discussions do not appear in Special:RecentChanges, and I really do not want to have to monitor yet another page for abuse. The wiki-style forums -- and even the Wikia Forums and Message Wall features -- all appeared in recent changes, which made it easier to monitor for abuse. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 21:05, January 22, 2018 (UTC)
Just to add on to what I said, if wiki users really want a relaxed place to chat, the Discord server more than adequately serves that function. The on-wiki forums have generally been more focused on wiki-related affairs and not recreation. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 01:19, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
I agree with K6ka's sentiments. The discussion are a nice feature - for another wiki. For now, they seem unnecessary. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 08:42, February 16, 2018 (UTC)
I also agree with everything that has been said above. - SimDestroyer (talk) 17:07, February 16, 2018 (UTC)
I'm normally up for moving to Discussions, but since this wiki does not have threaded forums enabled, I'm afraid I cannot do so in this case. Usually moving to Discussions is only suitable if the said wiki currently uses threaded forums, since all forum threads will be migrated sooner or later, and thus I feel it is better to get the migrations over and done with. But since this isn't one of those wikis, and since this wiki's wiki-style forums are more established than I can describe, I'm not feeling very supportive towards the idea of changing to Discussions. The Sims Wiki is one of the oldest wikis, so naturally it isn't accustomed to a modern feature like Discussions. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:58, March 21, 2018 (UTC)

ConclusionEdit

Consensus here seems to be in the direction of not activating Discussions. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 04:25, August 24, 2018 (UTC)
