Forums: IndexGame discussionsBluewater Village townies with Nightlife clothing | Forum new.gif Post

You may have noticed that there are four pre-made Bluewater Village townies in The Sims 2: Open for Business that wear clothes that originate from previous expansion packs. Nor are they the clothes they were in their default thumbnails either.

  • Steffi Royce, despite being a teenage townie that comes with the Bluewater Village sub-neighbourhood, wears an outfit that originates from the Nightlife expansion pack.
  • Robin Larrea, despite being a townie that comes from Bluewater Village, wears a top that originates from the Nightlife expansion pack, although there is a young adult version of the top that originates from University.
  • Lila Roennigke, despite being a Bluewater Village townie, wears a top that originates from the Nightlife expansion pack.
  • Alan Cho, despite being another Bluewater Village townie, wears an outfit that originates from the Nightlife expansion pack, while a young adult version of the outfit originates from University.

The question is, why do they wear different clothes in their head-shots than they wear in-game?
I've previously experienced issues on a laptop I sometimes use to test out stuff, where some clothing might not show up correctly.
So I'm guessing that the few Nightlife outfits that were re-introduced in Open for Business were not linked correctly when these four townies were generated, and their thumbnails were set.

The outfit Steffi wears in her default thumbnail is one of the base game outfits that commonly shows up on teenage female Sims instead of the outfit that's supposed to show up. This usually happens as a result of downloading mods but not downloading the meshes required for them to work.
Or in the case of when I last used this laptop, most of the Nightlife outfit meshes didn't show up correctly.

The top Robin and Lila wear in their default thumbnails is one of the base game tops that commonly shows up on adult female Sims instead of the tops that are supposed to show up.

The outfit Alan wears in his default thumbnail is one of the base game outfits that commonly shows up on adult male Sims instead of the top that is supposed to show up.

Yes, I noticed Alan Cho. He wears the same outfit as this young adult Sim from Académie Le Tour. I taught it was a young adult, but his walking style was different, it was just the same walk as how an adult walks. It was really strange. But what if he becomes playable? Does his outfit reset or something? Because it's not in the game. Unless University is installed. Sims Plumbob.png Player (talk) (mistakes) 04:57, June 27, 2015 (UTC)

What outfit are you talking about, when you say it doesn't appear in-game? ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:02, June 27, 2015 (UTC)
The outfit from this Sim and Alan Cho with the tattoo's. Sims Plumbob.png Player (talk) (mistakes) 05:07, June 27, 2015 (UTC)
The young adult version of the outfit comes with University. The adult version of the outfit comes with Nightlife, and unless I'm very much mistaken, Bluewater Village. As for Alan Cho's outfit, it does not change if he is made playable. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:08, June 27, 2015 (UTC)
Okay, but University was my first expansion pack. Sims Plumbob.png Player (talk) (mistakes) 05:17, June 27, 2015 (UTC)
The young adult life stage only comes with University, so you wouldn't be able to have the young adult versions of those outfits if you didn't have the young adult Sims. But the adult versions of those outfits are separate, so if you uninstalled University, but you still had Nightlife installed, the young adult versions of those outfits wouldn't show up (but all the adult versions would), and all the young adult Sims would become adults, although the NPC young adults will still have teenage voices. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:27, June 27, 2015 (UTC)
I've checked and the outfits Steffi, Robin, Lila, and Alan wear only seem to come with the Nightlife expansion pack. So the outfits the four townies wear are either the outfits they have in their original thumbnails, or else a random base game outfit. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 07:56, July 2, 2015 (UTC)
Almost a month has passed. Alas no further discussion has taken place. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:08, July 26, 2015 (UTC)
Perhaps I should have mentioned that I started this forum so that I could not only find out more information about the quirkiness of these four Bluewater Village townies, but also to update this information about them. As for the information, I have gone ahead and updated it. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:12, July 28, 2015 (UTC)
Maybe it's a mistake the Sims team made while making the game? They have made mistakes in TS2 before, especially memories. ~ NuttySimmer (talk) 16:20, April 1, 2016 (UTC)
