I'd agree to that. Well K6ka did inform me about this rule, but as far as I was aware, it did not necessarily mean that you had to be an admin to start and close battles. Therefore, I'm in favor of removing that rule from the list. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 07:53, August 21, 2014 (UTC)

I've already gone ahead and scrapped it. I know this is pretty early to close this community discussion, but doesn't look like anyone is going to oppose the user's opinions above in a hurry. So I guess we can safely close this forum at this time. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:25, August 22, 2014 (UTC)

Forums: IndexCommunity discussionsAll battle nominations will be reviewed by an administrator? | Forum new Post

It says in the guidelines that all nominations will be reviewed by administrator, meaning that only admins can close and start battles. However we have had several non-admins (including myself) who have closed and started battles before.

It appears that this guideline has either dried up, or been largely ignored. So we need to decide whether it should be kept, changed or removed. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:18, August 17, 2014 (UTC)

Discussion[]

Personally I'd lean towards allowing regular users, or rollbackers at least to review battle nominations, because several of these users have proven themselves trustworthy. Also should the admins who are usually in charge of the battles, not be present at the present time, we need to have other users who are willing to close and start battles to step forward.
Or perhaps we could change the requirements so that non-admins can notify an admin, before they proceed to close and start battles.
Or maybe we could have a volunteers board for non-admins who are willing to step forward and close and start battles, should the usual manager of the battles (K6ka in this case) potentially be away from keyboard. Should this proposal pass, all admins would by default be allowed to close and start battles. So they wouldn't have to volunteer. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:07, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, to say that "all nominations will be reviewed" means that the nominations will be checked by an admin to ensure that they follow the other rules outlined on the nominating page, as well as wiki policies. The review rule, however, does not apply to starting or ending battles, since that activity wouldn't necessarily have anything to do with reviewing the submissions, only performing the background tasks necessary to start a new battle and archive the old one. My suggestion would be to just remove that rule entirely, since it pretty much goes without saying that administrators can monitor submissions, and we don't need a rule explicitly stating who can or cannot change out the battles. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 07:46, August 21, 2014 (UTC)
