Florence Delarosa is a pre-made playable Sim residing in Bluewater Village, the shopping district sub-neighborhood shipped with The Sims 2: Open for Business. She lives alone and owns a home flower shop. Her past is somewhat of a mystery. She starts out without any friends, though she does know Gilbert Jacquet. While she is shy, it could also be that she's fairly new in the neighborhood, and has been too busy getting her shop established to get to know anyone really well. Florence is said to have a way of winning friends. While she doesn't start out with any skills, she does start with a bronze talent badge in flower arranging. She is 18 days away from becoming an elder. She is voiced by Zoe Galvez.
Florence has around §3000 in funds, but her home is well-furnished and her lot is well-landscaped. She will need to hire a gardener, and may want to hire a maid. She may also want to get a job in a career such as medicine or science, but that may pass once she gets the shop operating. When first played, she has no gender preference. The name Florence may be shortened down to be Flora, which may refer to her flower arranging skills. Florence shares her first name with an Italian city. Her family bio references pasta, an Italian creation.
The surname Delarosa may also be a reference to flower arranging and may stand for "of the Rose". Interestingly, her parents' last name in the UK edition is "Della Rosa". Despite their different names, Florence's name remains unchanged. German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch use "Della Rosa" as all three's last name, while French, Danish, Swedish, Portuguese, Polish, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Korean, Czech, and Brazilian Portuguese only use "Della Rosa" for the parents. The translation description for Florence's last name say "Needs Retranslation" which suggests that her American English last name was changed from "Della Rosa" to "Delarosa".
Strangely, if Florence's appearance is extracted with SimPE to Body Shop, she will be fat instead of thin. This is also the case with Isabella Monty and Gunnar Roque. The reason for this is because she has the fitness texture for fat Sims instead of the one for thin Sims. This implies that she was originally fat and her fitness level was subsequently modified with a program like SimPE. The only way for her to have the fitness texture for thin Sims without hacks is by having her overeat until she becomes fat, and then have her workout until she is thin again. Or by having her workout until she becomes fit, and then have her overeat until she is thin again. This also happens with many other pre-made Sims in The Sims 2.
