Wand
TS4ROM Promo 6
A spellcaster with her wand.

A wand is a magical object that is used to cast spells. It is included in The Sims: Makin' Magic, The Sims 2: Apartment LifeThe Sims 3: Supernatural, The Sims 4: Realm of Magic and The Sims 4: Werewolves.

The Sims: Makin' Magic[]

Wands are easily accessed by having a Sim open the box left by the Mystery Man. The box contains one wand, available to the first Sim who claims it. The box also includes a Spellbound Wand Charger, which can also be used as a wand dispenser to provide any additional Sims with wands. The Spellbound Wand Charger can also be bought in buy mode, as can the MagiCo NeoMagical Newt, which dispenses wands for children. Sims who go to Magic Town can buy wands from the Mystery Man for §50.

A wand must be charged to be usable. A wand can be charged with a spell by placing the correct ingredients into the wand charger or NeoMagical Newt. Each spell has its own combination of ingredients, which must be inserted in the correct order to be effective.

Many spells will backfire if cast on a Sim who has a wand. All Magic Town townies carry wands.

The Sims 2: Apartment Life[]

Wands are accessed instantly after a Sim becomes a witch or a warlock. Whenever the Sim casts a spell, a wand will automatically appear in their hand. The color and appearance of the wand depends on the magical alignment of the witch or warlock. Good witches will use white wands tipped with a white star, neutral witches will use plain brown wood wands, and evil witches will use black wands tipped with elegant red crystals.

The Sims 3: Supernatural[]

Wands, like in The Sims 2: Apartment Life, are accessed instantly when a Sim becomes a witch, getting a classic wand added to their inventory. Sims can also buy many other types of wands that have a variety of different models and power, and they can be upgraded. Using wands will drain some magic on a witch's magic bar. Sims have the option of casting spells without wands by buying the "Magic Hands" lifetime reward, which will never fail.[TS3:SN]

Witches, and possible human Sims, can use the wand to play fetch with a werewolf.

Spellcasters by default use their hands to cast magic, however, the player can choose from a variety of wands to use.[1] They can be purchased from vendor stalls in The Magic Realm or bought in build mode with the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat. Familiar cats and dogs may also bring back a wand if asked to forage for magical supplies[C&D]. The Sims 4: Werewolves includes a spellcaster wand as an Easter egg related to the lore of Moonwood Mill.

Wands can be stored in special display cases when not in use.[2]
