The Paranormal family is the youngest SimCity family in The Sims. Originally consisting of just Vladimir, Jason, Calina, Marko and Dmitry. This family appears in all four main games (The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4).
They live in Neighborhood 1/Old Town[TS], Pleasantview[TS2], Sunset Valley[TS3], and Willow Creek[TS4].
History
Origins
The Paranormal family has its origins in the Russian Empire, having important positions like political influencers, successful entrepreneurs, leading scientists, even clairvoyants and investigators of the paranormal in the country. However, when Vangelia Paranormal, one of the most prominent seers of the nineteenth century, predicted a war that would greatly harm Russia, she decided to move and start a new life with her family in Sunset Valley.
The Sims 3
In The Sims 3, the family lives in Sunset Valley, which is set around 50 years before The Sims 2 and 25 years before The Sims. At this time, it consists of Grigori, Leonid, their children Vladimir and Calina, besides of Efimovich and Petrovna. They have many money that they have inherited their wealth from earlier generations. They have §100,548 in funds and live at 6 Skyborough Blvd in a large and old manor.
In this age, Grigori is a successful actor while Leonid is a recognized fortune teller of the town. Petrovna performs well in her athletic career, but Efimovich doesn't happy as doctor, so, he prefers to spend time with his nephews.
The Sims
In The Sims, the Paranormals (Vladimir, Jason, Calina, Marko and Dmitry) live in a rather small, but comfortable house at 5 Sim Lane and have §540 in funds. Vladimir is a nobody in the fame career while Jason works as conspiracy theorist and Calina is a hacker. Relatives buried in the backyard are Jason's family.
Meanwhile, Grigori and Leonid (Vladimir's parents) live in a large house at 55 Ingleside Drive with their dog and cat, Roger and Raymond. Grigori continues being a very famous actor in the city as a superstar while Leonid works now as detective.
The Sims 2
25 years later, Vladimir and Jason continue being adults but they have managed to amass a great fortune thanks to the elixir of life that they have sold.
Vladimir left the world of fame to be a successful architect as master architect while Jason is a exorcist. They live with their child Cecilia and their pets Drako and Iker, a dog and a cat respectively. Marko and Dmitry have grown up and are studying at the university while Calina married with Angel and moved out with him. At this point, the Paranormal and Langerak families are in an eternal dispute due to the obsession for eternal youth.
Onomatology
Paranormal: Relates either to events that have no explanation through logic and objective methods such as life after death, ghosts, abductions, etc.
Vladimir Paranormal: Derived from the slavic element vladeti "rule" combined with meru "great, famous". His name relates to the success and recognition he has achieved in his career and to finance the elixir of life invented by Jason and Mortimer. Vladimir has been a very enterprising person managing to close deals cleverly and manage businesses strategically. The second element has also been associated with miru meaning "peace, world". In this sense, Vladimir cannot be considered a peaceful person, especially with the absurd fights he has with his sister.
Jason Paranormal: From the Greek name Ιασων (Iason), which was derived from Greek ιασθαι (iasthai) "to heal". Jason was born long after his sister died to unknown causes. So, in a way, it was a "pill" for his parents, especially for his mother who couldn't bear the pain of a loss. In addition, to support his husband in difficult and painful times, as well as his children. As well as the confusing path he had to travel in the paranormal from an early age.
Calina Paranormal: From russian origins, means "heated". Calina is a woman who really likes to live life with passion, likes to go to parties, have a good time, dress well and to be as young as possible. Despite being smarter and more cunning than her older brother, Calina prefers to live life to the fullest with responsibilities to the minimum.
