Ronald Hunt is a SimNationion politician, criminal (Sims 2), and five-star chef (The Sims 3 and 4). He is most notable for his longstanding and complicated relationship with Thatcher Maylenderton. His early stories mostly revolved around becoming the first Mayor of Maylend in The Sims 2, while and his unstable marriage to Ophera Hunt took center stage in The Sims 3. His early political aspirations were scrapped when he returned in The Sims 3 and was replaced by the desire to become a famous chef.
Ronald returns in The Sims 4 as a newlywed dishwasher in the culinary career track.
Biography[]
According to Ronald's memories (which I edited in SimPE) he and Thatcher Maylenderton had become best friends as teenagers until Thatcher's girlfriend, Ophera broke up with him and dated Ronald instead. Thatcher eventually won a fight against Ronald and they then grew up to adults. Sometime later Ronald and Ophera got married and moved to the new town that Thatcher founded, Maylend. At the beginning of The Sims 2 Ronald and Thatcher live directly across from each other (similar to the set up of Sunset Valley's Landgraab and Alto families). Thatcher lived in a more traditional mansion while Ronald built a large boxy estate for him and his wife. How either men came up with their large fortunes is unknown (Thatcher's wealth is revealed to been passed down to him by his parents in the Sims 3).
Ronald Hunt first appears in The Sims 2 as the main rival to the up-and-coming political star Thatcher Maylenderton. Thatcher founded the town of Maylend, but it grew quickly and needed an official mayor. Seeing the legacy he could create for himself if he were to become the first mayor, Ronald decided to join the race. Thatcher always remained one promotion ahead of him, however, and Ronald dropped out, which allowed Thatcher to take the mayor position Ronald desired. After some time, he quietly joined the criminal career, which was risky considering his wife worked in law enforcement.
The Hunt marriage was cold, and Ophera regretted leaving Thatcher for Ronald as teenagers. The marriage started deteriorating (due mostly in part to his temper) when it became evident that Ronald would lose the mayoral race. He impulsively has a one night stand with his maid, Lucy Hanby, and was caught in bed with her by Ophera. As a result he and Ophera divorced and he married Lucy shortly after, eventually having two girls with her (Emily and Amelia).
Ronald and Thatcher eventually became best friends many years after their political campaigns. As he grew older Ronald grew restless and oversaw the addition of a third floor to his mansion which housed new bedrooms and a theater. He died shortly before Thatcher, as an elder.
Trivia[]
- Ronald was one of the only, if not the only, sim I have ever had who never moved out of his first home during his life. All my other sims move at least a couple of times, but Ronald stayed in one for his entire story.
- Ronald and Thatcher's initial story is clearly based off the rivalry between the Alto's and the Landgraab's from The Sims 3. In this story Ronald takes the place of the Alto's, while Thatcher is based on the Landgraabs.
- This is the only game in which Ronald cheats on Ophera just one time.
Early Life[]
Ronald initially appears in The Sims 3 as a teenager. His tacky clothes and ideas are shown to have come from his parents, Paul and Wendy Hunt. He moves to Twinbrook directly after Thatcher's mother, Diana, kills herself in a house fire. The house is later fixed up after Diana's death and Ronald and his family happen to be the family that move in. Thatcher decides he automatically hates Ronald for living in the house that his mother died in, but the two quickly become friends. Their friendship grew so strong that they decided to go to Sims University together.
Young Adulthood[]
Ronald did well in University although he did not excel like Thatcher did. He met his future wife, Ophera, on campus on the first day of classes. Ophera and Thatcher seemed to get along more, so it surprised many when she and Ronald announced they were dating. Thatcher supported the union and didn't mind third-wheeling to events. They became something of minor celebrities on campus, something that Ronald greatly enjoyed. Ophera didn't return to the University after that semester and thus never finished her degree. Ronald and Thatcher went back to school after break and rented a house on campus together. Ronald cheated on Ophera many times during the last half of his college career, which angered Thatcher. Despite his anger Thatcher never told Ophera what happened during those last semesters as he felt it wasn't his business to tell.
Ronald graduated with his Fine Arts degree and immediately took a job at the diner in Twinbrook as an assistant chef. Thatcher let him move in with him, and Ronald promised it would only be temporary. Despite his promises, Ronald lived with Thatcher for few years and even had Ophera move in with them, even though Thatcher wanted them to leave. Thatcher was eventually elected mayor of Twinbrook, but left after less than a year to work on Catarina Vanderburg's reelection campaign in Hidden Springs. Coincidentally, Ronald had just been asked to work in the very same town as head chef in a fancy restaurant! As word was spreading fast of Thatcher being a rising political star, word was also spreading of Ronald's culinary talent. Thatcher as a little annoyed by the news that Ronald would be more or less moving with him to a new town, as his patience was growing thin with Ronald's over-the-top personality and constant need to feel validated. Ronald, Ophera and Thatcher all moved to Hidden Springs around the same time and immediately upon arrival Ronald and Ophera got married in a small ceremony in their new backyard. Ronald chose a mint-green mcmansion as his new home, directly across from Thatcher.
Affairs[]
Ronald loved Ophera, but couldn't resist the temptation of other female sims. He cheated on her a few times in college, but planned to remain faithful when they got married. These plans fell though almost immediately, and Ronald was seen around flirting with many female customers around town, some of whom he had had secret relationships with. His first full blown love-affair started with Lonnie Pertridge and lasted for two years. It ended when Ronald talked about leaving Ophera for her, something Lonnie wasn't interested in. Embarrassed, Ronald severed ties with her and never spoke to her again. Ronald and Lonnie had been caught in bed together a few days beforehand and Ronald was contemplating what to do. After the conversation with Lonnie, Ronald sincerely apologized to Ophera and vowed to never cheat on her again.
That vow didn't last long as Ronald soon found him to be in an affair with Thatcher's second wife, Ella Carlisle. The affair only lasted a few weeks but ended with Thatcher caught them together. He threw Ronald out of his house and they started fighting in Thatcher's yard. Ophera ran outside to see what was going on, and Thatcher informed him that her husband was having an affair with his wife. Ophera was humiliated, but stayed with Ronald even though she had no children with him and was in good financial standing by herself. This caused a brief estrangement between Thatcher and Ophera, as he didn't understand why she would stay with him after he publicly cheated on her twice. Again, Ronald promised to never cheat on her again, but this time Ophera didn't believe him.
The final straw came when Ronald had a one-night-stand with the maid, Lucy Hanby. They only were together that one time, but Ophera caught them and finally filed for divorce, which was granted less than four months later. Ronald impulsively married Lucy just days after the divorce went through.
Adulthood[]
Ronald was surprised both Thatcher and Ophera at the wedding. He invited them both mostly as an insult, and was shocked to see them drunkenly making out at the reception. Instead of getting angry, he just asked them to leave and they complied. By now Ronald was the five-star chef he had always dreamed he would be and finally had enough money to be considered rich. As a wedding gift to his new wife, he allowed Lucy to make over the living room and kitchen. She changed the color scheme from a forest green and dark brown to white and blue, which annoyed Ronald because blue was Thatcher's signature color. After about a year Ronald received an invitation to a wedding: Thatcher and Ophera's wedding. This made Ronald mad and he suspected they had had an affair while she was still married to him (they hadn't.) Still, he planned to go. However, a few days later, Ophera came by and uninvited him to the wedding. Ronald thought about going anyway, but decided to honor Ophera's wishes.
Two and a half years into Ronald's marriage with Lucy had gone by and Ronald still hadn't cheated on her. Ronald was not happy to hear that Lucy was pregnant with their first child, and almost had a one-night-stand as a result of the news, but he held himself back and decided right then and there that he would remain faithful for the rest of his life. He didn't like children, but was now about to be a father, and he knew that child would need a stable home. Ronald remained true to his word for his children, and never once cheated on Lucy. His first daughter, Emily, was born soon after and his second daughter, Amelia, was born after another 10 months.
Elderhood[]
Ronald aged to elderhood and continued to be married to Lucy. His oldest daughter had since grown into a young adult and married Thatcher's son, Ryan, technically making them family. Ronald and Thatcher never spoke again after Ronald's wedding, but Ronald spoke fondly of him when asked about him.
Trivia[]
- Ronald and Thatcher's relationship was pretty much the exact opposite in this version of their lives. In The Sims 2 they started out as enemies who eventually become best friends, and in The Sims 3 they are best friends who become enemies. Their relationship never really got any better after Ronald was caught having an affair with Thatcher's wife.
- Ronald's switch from political/criminal in The Sims 2, to culinary in The Sims 3 makes him the first sim to have a completely different career path from one game to another. Thatcher was the second, when he switched from political in The Sims 2 and 3, to business in The Sims 4. This also makes Ronald the sim with the most careers, with three.
- Like in The Sims 2, Ronald never moved from his first adult house. He stayed in his first home in Hidden Springs for the rest of his life. Also, like in The Sims 2, his house is remodeled by Lucy although at they are done at different points in his life.
- Despite his favorite color being listed as orange, his "official" color is green, making him the only sim in the Sims 3 story to have a different official and favorite color.

Young Adulthood[]
Ronald appears once again in The Sims 4 as the husband of Ophera. He once again works in the culinary field.
Ronald starts off as a dishwasher and his new wife, Ophera starts her job in the Special Agent career. Their marriage started off significantly better than in the two previous games, with Ronald not romantically involved with any other woman besides his wife for 10 years.
Trivia[]
- Ronald has now had the same job (culinary) for two consecutive games, which pretty much cancels out his first career(s) in The Sims 2 as far as his "cannon" story goes.
