Patrizio Monty was the patriarch of the Monty family. In his life, he raised three children, all of whom still live in Veronaville, and later became a temporary guardian for two of his grandsons when they were orphaned in an unfortunate accident.

Unbeknownst to his wife Isabella, Patrizio was also the head of the Veronaville mob from the time of his father's death, and high ranked in the organization since he was a teenager. It was this unsavory connection that led to the end of his relationships with Consort and Contessa Capp, and began the feud, as Contessa became determined to bring him and his family in on charges that would stick. The Monty family restaurant, besides being a place for more timid Monty relatives to work, has been a money laundering front since its first opening; this is why Patrizio and Isabella's pensions were so ridiculously large.

Immediately prior to his death, Patrizio began the task of grooming his eldest grandson Mercutio to take over his job. He died before he could finish, and Mercutio's tutoring was completed by his uncle Antonio. Patrizio has also instructed Romeo, although this is more as insurance than anything else.

Trivia

• I always resented the obvious viewpoint of "the family-oriented Montys are good, and the moneygrubbing Capps are bad." This combined with the Montys' traditional Italian everything was what made me decide to make them mafia. Plus, it gives them a real, lasting reason to hate the Capps, assuming the business the Capps run is a law firm; I always figured that the Contessa love triangle was something that Consort and Patrizio would have gotten over long, long ago.
