"Nick Grimm" is the new name chosen by Nervous Subject, a major character in the StrangeTown Monty (STM) Machinima Series.

As Nervous Subject

Before he became Nick, Nervous was a disgruntled test subject. Loki and Circe Beaker never bothered with tight physical security for their castle, because Nervous was successfully conditioned to believe that if he were to escape, he was too damaged and incompetent to ever make it in the world alone. To be very sure, the Beakers withheld education, money and other good things from Nervous.

Nervous snuck out of the castle when the Beakers were at work, making acquaintances with other Strangetown residents - mainly the Curious-Smith family. But Nervous was too socially awkward and full of angst to give anyone a lasting positive impression.

Nervous has the scavenging, opportunistic mentality of a poor boy. He made a very calculated decision to save Bianca Monty's life, which paid off as a stepping stone to freedom.

As Nick Grimm

With Bianca Monty as a new ally, Nervous Subject changed his name to "Nick Grimm", and put in effort to live a normal life.

Nick clearly has new opportunities and responsibilities in his new identity. But traces of his old mentality still haunt him, and may hamper his chances of success. After all, the Beakers did a lot of physical and psychological damage to him, which is not easily reversible.

Freudian Issues

The Beakers' experiments alone cannot produce Freudian issues in the same way as they produce convulsions or vomitting. Nick Grimm's Oedipus Complex is a result of his outsider status in the Beaker household, amplified by the trauma of meeting his biological father.

Nick does not appear to have very positive male role models in his life, which may have very significant consequences for him, as his story continues in Season 2.
