Lanaya Patricia Reed (née Anderson) (born August 29, 1979) is a recurring character from the web series Wasting Time. She is Lexi and Cole's mother.
Biography[]
Lanaya was born in 1979 to Laura Wagner and Ernest Anderson. She grew up in rural Watersman on her parents' farm. Her younger brother Gary was born in 1982 when she was three years old. She had a love for the outdoors and saving the environment. She would read in her spare time as they did not have television or much other technology. She would do many chores for her parents growing up and was hard working. She loved the take care of all the animals. Her parents would make her dress in pink and have pink furniture, even though Lanaya didn't care for pink and much preferred the color orange. Her childhood bedroom still has all pink furniture in it.
As a teenager she finally got an early model computer that she could use for homework. She met Lucas Reed, a classmate, in 1996. She still wasn't allowed to wear makeup or dress fashionably because her parents didn't let her. But she still found Lucas and they started dating and bonded over their love of swimming. She later graduated from Watersman High School in 1998. She went to university and got a biology degree, graduating in 2002. At University, she started to discover who she was and became passionate about environment, global warming, and wanted to work in a field where she could help the environment.
She got a job after graduation in the conservationist career. In 2003, she got engaged to Lucas and they got eloped in the June 20th, 2004 and moved in together. Lucas's parents didn't approve of Lanaya and Lanaya's parents didn't approve of Lucas, so they just got eloped and didn't make a big deal over having a big wedding. Their parents' disapproval made their relationship difficult. They bought a ranch style house in the Saffron Hills district of Watersman. As much as they loved the rural area, they needed a change from the countryside life so they now live in the suburbs. Their marriage was not perfect. Lucas was a lifeguard, but Lanaya wanted him to get a better job that made more money. They would sometimes have fights over it and many other things.
Lanaya and Lucas made friends with Grant and Harmony Thompson, who moved in a house across the street in 2007.
In 2011, their daughter Alexis (Lexi) was born. Lucas wasn't a very good parent as his own parents were not good parents so he had nothing to go off of and this also caused a bit of tension between the two. However he was determined to be better than his parents were. On January 7, 2014, their son Cole was born. However, there was an accident at work, and Lucas died of heatstroke on February 7, 2014, leaving Lanaya and the rest of the family heartbroken.
Lanaya was left to raise Lexi and Cole by herself and began throwing herself into work so she could afford bills, food, toys, etc. for her children. she didn't have much time. It was after that that the Thompson family, including their daughter Nia, became closer with the Reeds because they would try to help and babysit when they could. She always tries to get Cole off the video games and get her kids to play outside. She tries to move on from Lucas, even though it's hard for her. On September 29, 2017, she adopted a puppy, Nala, for her kids, and they loved her.
Nia and Lexi never really knew each other as toddlers when Lanaya and the Thompsons would meet up. Later they became friends in Kindergarten because they would see each other every day and became best friends. They regularly see each other since they live near each other.
Lanaya's still juggling her career and her home life, and she hopes to have more free time as they get older and become more independent. She decided to raise her family vegetarian after Lucas died because he ate meat, but she was against eating it. In the beginning of 2021, she started a garden and has a chicken coop in her backyard, where she gets her eggs from her chickens, who her kids named Polly and Pierre.
