Heartbroken and feeling betrayed, given her sacrifices for him, Gothel's sadness eventually festers into hatred. Gothel later meets Zurel, another woman seduced by Prince and then forsaken, even though Zurel became pregnant. Together, Gothel and Zurel conspire to kill Prince, and do so by fooling him into eating mermadic kelp. This turns him into a mermaid, although he rapidly dehydrates to death. His wife, Ella, suspects Gothel and Zurel.
