Genesis Curious (née Lam) was the former fiancée of Drew Curious and mother of True Curious. She changed her last name in to Curious when she found out she was pregnant.
Biography[]
Before joining the family[]
Not much is known about Genesis' youth and family. She moved to Strangetown as a young adult with a passion for cleaning and a feeling for adventure. She was hired by several families before ending up at the Curious family. She spend some time cleaning for the Beaker family, but quit after getting involved with Loki Beaker as he would not leave his wife Circe for her. Genesis often looked back at this and blamed it on being young and making foolish mistakes. She went on to clean at university for a bit, in particular for the Shifting Paradymes household, but left after they couldn't afford her anymore.
Genesis got hired by Pascal Curious, and was asked for extreme discretion for anything she came across in their house, as the three brothers were about to hit a major breakthrough. She witnessed Nikto, Klatu and Lucifer grow up. She was not as interested in the green men as everybody else in Strangetown was, but did befriend Lucifer. If she ever intended to be anything more than just friends with him is unclear, as he married Tessa Loste before she could even make a move. Genesis continued to work for the next generation of Curious men and their families and saw Sarah, Lucas, Joshua and Kade grow up. She witnessed the birth of Drew as well, but Klatu, Marsha and Drew moved out of the household to another home, which she was not asked to clean.
With the new generation she befriended yet another Curious, this time Joshua. Again, it was not clear if her intensions were more than being friendly, and again faith had chosen for her. Joshua and his twin Lucas both moved to college before anything could happen between Genesis and Joshua. The two lost touch, and the next time they spoke Joshua was in a relationship with Tiffany Riley.
Things seemed to change for the better for Genesis when Drew moved back in to the Curious household. He had grown up since last time she saw him, and was immediately attracted to his physique. This time not wasting any time, Genesis flirting couldn't be more obvious. Somehow Drew still didn't seem what to do it. So after some inquiring with Sarah, and dropping several hints, Sarah told Genesis that she would help the two of them out, and talk to Drew for her. It did not take long after that for the two to go out and Genesis fell madly in love with Drew.
Adulthood[]
When Genesis is asked to move in to the Curious household, she is happy to do so. The very first few weeks she has trouble not cleaning the place constantly, as she feels it's still one of her responsibilities. But when Sarah and her husband Jenson reassure her it is not necessary, she suddenly feels empty and not sure what to do with her life.
She enjoys her time with Drew, and for a while the two seem very happy with each other. It seems to go so well even, that Drew proposes to her, and Genesis accepts. She doesn't need to think long about it and wants to share her life with im. When she discovers that she is pregnant, she is shocked and nervous to tell Drew, as they had never discussed children. At the same time she is dealing with the rest of his family, as his mother Marsha has not responded greatly on the fast moving relationship. Even Sarah and Jenson, who have been kind and welcoming to her, have slightly changed their attitudes about Drew and Genesis.
To calm down the family, and to fully focus on the arrival of their child, Genesis and Drew decide to postpone the wedding till after the birth. Not wanting for people to think anything strange of them, Genesis suggests that she can already change her last name into Curious, so that their marriage later will just be a formality. When one night Genesis wakes up with an incredible pain in her stomach, she immediately knows something is wrong. She convinces Drew to take her to the hospital and there they tell her that if they want the baby to survive it needs to be born now. Genesis is worried sick, as it is way too early and so many things did not seem right. Her biggest fear becomes reality when her daughter True Curious is born. She is the smallest baby she had ever seen and although she saw her fighting for her life, True lost the battle. True was only alive for a few hours.
Broken and despressed, Genesis spends the next few months locked up in her room and glued to her bed. She can see that Drew tries his best to comfort her, but it somehow just makes her feel worse. The only time Genesis leaves the house is to go and sit near her grave, which she does for the next few weeks from dusk till dawn.
Genesis returns home early on a rainy day and walks in on Drew "dusting" together with the new maid Aiyana Dallas. The small part of her heart that was still in tact, shatters and Genesis storms out of the house. Drew tries to catch up with her and apologizes, but Genesis only sees red and throws her engagement ring at him and tells him that it's over. When Sarah and Jenson hear about what happened they comfort and support her in her choice, and tell her that she can stay as long as she likes. This is something that Genesis takes to heart and she decides to move out of Drew's room, and into the guest room instead. Hoping this would set Drew off enough to end things with Aiyana and be miserable as well.
Unfortunately for Genesis it has the opposite effect, as Drew and Aiyana get married and announce they are expecting just shortly after their wedding. Defeating Genesis contemplates if she should leave the house after all and give up, but Jenson encourages her to shift her focus instead and get involved into something she loves (and preferably can make some money of) before she does. Genesis decides to start her culinary career and share her love for taking care and feeding people with others. She seems to be doing well as she earns several promotions. When Drew's daughters Ana and Emma are born Genesis struggles to deal with it at first, but decides to ignore the seemingly happy family and save up for a little house for her own.
As Drew's twin girls grow older, she notices the little cracks appear between Drew and Aiyana, as both seem more involved with their careers than with their family. Although it secretly makes Genesis happy, she does not wish for the girls to suffer. She started cooking meals for them and taking care of them after school. The three bonded quickly and Genesis felt responsible to keep up the Curious tradition and get them into private school. Strangely enough neither Drew nor Aiyana protested any of this, so Genesis just kept doing what she was doing.
Elderhood[]
When Genesis' hair starts to turn gray, and when Emma and Ana seem to have turned into responsible grown women, Genesis realizes it is time for her to move out. She has reached the top of her career, fulfilling her Lifetime want of becoming a celebrity chef, and things it's finally time to buy that small little house she always thought of.
Even though Genesis has left the house, she stays incredibly close with the two girls, even more so with Ana. She is happy to see that Ana had found the love of her life, and the two are in a happy and healthy relationship together. Genesis does get a little worried when Emma introduces her fiancé Léon to her, as he seems like an unusual being, even for Strangetown terms. As well as it being suspiciously close to the announcement of Ana's pregnancy. Emma convinces Genesis that Léon is the one for her, and that the two are incredibly happy together.
In this time Genesis also reconnects with Drew, as he reached out to her after Ana's wedding with a grand apology and realization of how awful he had always been to her. She decides to forgive him, and the two remain friends. When Drew dies of old age, Genesis can't help but to mourn the love of her life. She witnessed the birth of Kevin, the son of Ana and Blair and feels like she kind of became a grandmother herself. Her relationship with Aiyana always remained somewhat difficult and restrained, so it was some sort of a relief for Genesis to hear that Aiyana had peacefully passed of old age.
Happy to have been the last standing grandmother, Genesis finds peace and passes away as fulfilled as can be from old age.
