World Fanon:Sunset Valley
Write a Review!

Eumenes Attalides is one of the many party-lovers in the generally upbeat Attalid family. Eumenes is also the "hunk" of the Attalid family, having the greatest affinity for physical prowess. In addition, Eumenes is also a book-lover, something that is not common in folks appreciating the need to exercise.

Pergamene Environment[]

Main Article: Fanon:Attalidai

As a member of the royal family, Eumenes and the other Attalids, led by Philetairos who himself was a party-lover, pretty much made Attalid party a weekly (almost daily) ritual in Sunset Valley at the first timeline. As Philetairos' brother and a fellow party-lover, Eumenes gladly basked in the attention generated by their generous party hosting. Of course, their parties were of the highest class, and all those invited have rated their parties to be the best that they've attended, and to those who had experienced Alkmaionid parties, found Attalid parties even better. Of course, the Attalids' lavish lifestyle was quite costly to maintain, and Eumenes took an active role in earning money to pay off for their intensive partying. In fact, the Attalids despite their royal origins were perfectly fine with taking jobs, and sooner or later Attalids were the talk of the town.

In addition fo their hardcore and extremely frequent parties, the Attalids were huge consumers of foreign art, most notably the Chinese sculptures. On top, Attalids were also eager tourists, making numerous trips to foreign places that were matched only by that of Beauty 4 under Demetria. Given such things, it was not surprising that the Attalids took the leading role in introducing foreign stuff to the Sunset Valley (although actually making businesses out of it would have to wait until Beauty 4 came in). Eumenes, despite his good nature and such, wasn't too interested in actual academic studies for some time, as the one most interested in hot pursuit of things was not too happy about the massive party culture of the regal family. This would reverse only with the decline of the Scholars' Alliance, which came at the second timeline. Although Eumenes wasn't too eager to interact with Stratonike, Eumenes was actually quite happy to cooperate with Stratonike: the Simbot did end up becoming a talk of the town and kept the Pergamene partying machine on high gear. Secondly, Stratonike was also a huge proponent of the Martial Arts, although Stratonike was pursuing the art solely for her interests, and Eumenes found Stratonike's shared pursuit quite convenient.

Attalid Decay[]

As mentioned, the Beauty 4 under Demetria quickly replaced the Attalids as the main party-holder of Sunset Valley, a trend that continued until Hypatia's takeover and the resultant creation of the Scholars' Alliance. In fact, the Attalids never recovered to their former party-loving powerhouse that it used to be, even with their transfer to Hekatonschoinos, which featured a huge palace just for the purpose. In fact, the Attalids redesigned their house to a more Grecian fashion, hoping to reignite the party impetus, which just didn't happen.

With the relative lack of parties, the Attalids including Eumenes had to do with the occasional musters that Kallisto orders occasionally. Although the Attalids never complained about the musters, they had hoped for parties, which just did not happen. Eumenes for one grew restless, and having seen Boukephalos at the initial period of the creation of Hekatonschoinos, had been a proponent of the horse fad, which was taken most enthusiastially by Philetairos's daughters, Thetis and Olympias, and to a lesser degree, Philetairos himself.

Trivia[]

  • The Bookworm trait is a reference to the monarch this sim is aimed at portraying, Eumenes II of Pergamon, who was the monarch behind the construction of the Library of Pergamon which was second only to that of Alexandreia. In fact, it was because of this that Alexandreia refused export of papyrus, this consequently leading to the development (or to be exact, the refinement) of the parchment.
  • The Bookworm trait was also not originally there, although it was eventually added with the update of information (above) in place of the Excitable trait.
  • As mentioned in the Main Fanon page's trivia section, Philetairos and Eumenes's spacing is quite off (in the fanon, Philetairos and Eumenes are brothers): Philetairos is Attalos's Brother, who in turn was the father of another Attalos was in turn the father of Attalos I, who was then the father of Eumenes II. Essentially Philetairos is 2 generations ahead of Eumenes. Similar issue is also present with the Romaioi Barbaroi, specifically that Flaminivs is somewhere around a century and a half ahead of Caesar, Pompeivs and Cato.
  • It is extremely interesting given Eumenes and Stratonike's collaboration in Martial Arts that Eumenes II's marriage partner is Stratonike of Pergamon, although repeated numerous time in the Fanon Stratonike of the fanon is not based on Stratonike of Pergamon (or any other historical Stratonike) in any fashion.
