Agreement before birthEdit
Demelza Grande's mother, Jill Kennedy, was a working-class cleaner, working for the affluent couple Jennifer and Richard Grande. The Grande's could not have children. However, one day, while Richard had been sent to work away for 9 months, Jill revealed she was pregnant with twins. Jill revealed she couldn't sustain two more children on top of her five already. Jennifer suggested to Jill that she take one of the children. Jennifer explains how perfect the idea is. Jill agrees reluctantly.
Birth and growing upEdit
Demelza Grande was born to Jill and Austin Kennedy, Austin walked out on Jill while pregnant. Demelza was adopted by Richard and Jennifer Grande. Demelza had no idea about her twin, or the rest of her other siblings. One day, however, Demelza approached a poor young boy who was all alone, and asked to play. The child, Dirk, agreed and the two introduced themselves as Dirk and Demelza. Jill walked into the park, looking for Dirk, and immediately recognised who Demelza was, and sent her home. Demelza and her family ended up moving away after Jennifer said to Richard she was afraid that something was going to happen.
Demelza began campaigning around her local area for a much-needed change. She became the local member of the government. She became popular and respected around the area, despite some of her ideas being rather controversial and only good for a select amount of people.
After Jennifer Grande died, Jill Kennedy took it upon herself to tell Demelza and Dirk they were actually brother and sister. Demelza and Dirk were overjoyed and began seeing each other much more regularly.
