Dane Straight is the adoptive son of Janet Michaels and June Straight. He is the ex-husband of Leanna Straight (née Noland). Dane resides in Riverview. He died in a fire caused by a gas explosion, but returns as a playable ghost.
Dane had dark skin, green eyes, and black slicked-back hair. His everyday outfit consisted of a tan canvas jacket and slacks.
As a baby, Dane was adopted by June Straight and Janet Michaels, who were also caring for June's three sisters. It was a happy, albeit crowded, home. Dane got good grades in school, and got along with all his aunts as well.
As a teen, Dane continued to get good grades in school. One day at school, he met a girl named Leanna Noland, and the two started dating. They were voted cutest couple in school that year. Dane was sure that Leanna was the girl that he would stay with for the rest of his life.
Dane's passion was science, and he was on track to getting a job in the science career. He even had an internship at was also interested in cooking, and would often experiment with different recipes. He would even cook Leanna's favorite dishes as a nice romantic gesture. Dane was becoming quite the baker, even though he didn't consider culinary arts as a career.
One night, June, Janet, Justine, and Starr left the house to go see a movie, leaving Dane home alone. He tried to make hot dogs for dinner, and started the grill. A gas explosion caused the grill to catch fire. Dane tried to control the fire, but couldn't. Eventually the flames grew bigger and bigger. A bunch of neighbors rushed over, including his good friend Joann. However it was too late, and the flames were beginning to engulf the kitchen. Leanna got the bad news, and was devastated. But Dane still got his wish, for the couple was together till death did them 'part.
Dane began to show himself around the house again, in the form of his ghost. Thanks to science, June was able to resurrect him. Well... not quite. Dane was still a ghost, but was now back in the same plane of existence as everyone else in his life. His arrival was met with immense joy from his parents.
Following Dane's "resurrection", he got back in touch with Leanna. She was dating Jebidiah DeLuca, a male maid. She had inherited her parent's house, as they had decided to retire outside of Riverview. A month later, Leanna broke up with Jebidiah, which was a long time coming. She got back together with Dane at the surprise birthday party she threw him. A two months later, Dane popped the question and was met with an astounding yes. Despite the large amount of money that Leanna had, the couple opted to have a small and simple wedding. A ceremony was held at Riverwalk Park.
It was bliss. For awhile anyways. As Leanna began to age, Dane stayed stuck as a young adult, a curse of his incorporeal form. It began to drive a wedge between them, as Leanna always imagined growing old with him. They decided to stay together for now. The two had accumulated a large amount of shared wealth. As time passed, they were still driven further apart. Leanne also wanted children and tried to no avail. Eventually Dane and Leanna had drifted far enough apart. The two quietly separated, and eventually finalized their divorce.
