Drums

Drums are a musical instrument that can be played by Sims. Drums were first introduced in The Sims 2: University, along with the guitar and bass. Drums are not available in The Sims 3 base game, but were re-introduced in the The Sims 3: Late Night expansion pack.

The Sims 2: University

Drums in The Sims 2: University can be played by Sims aged teen or older, and playing them will boost creativity skill. As the creativity skill improves, the quality of a Sim's drumming improves as well, and highly skilled players may perform some tricks while playing, such as throwing their drumsticks around. If the Perform... interaction is selected, the drums can be played alongside other musical instruments - the guitar, bass and piano - and performing on the drums can generate tips from other Sims; the higher the creativity skill level of the Sim playing, the higher the tips will be (up to §100 per tip).

Playing alongside other Sims also provides a small boost to the Social motive.

Drums were not included in The Sims 3 or in the first two expansion packs or stuff packs, but they were confirmed for inclusion in The Sims 3: Late Night, along with an associated Drums skill. The drums can be played alongside other musical instruments - the guitar, bass and piano in a band. Performing on the drums can generate tips from other Sims. Drums can only be played by teen and older Sims.

A non-musical drum can be unlocked in The Sims 3: Showtime by going on SimPort tours through TheSims3.com or with an instant-unlock game mod. While the drum cannot be played on, it can be sat on akin to an armchair. Being considered by the game as a stage prop, it can be placed on most of the slots on show stages.
