Biography | |
Doreen is actually an old Witch but thanks to a narcissistic personality and the miracle of an age reversing elixir, she looks much younger than she actually is. A very talented Witch and a control freak at heart who must know all the details, Doreen seeks to take charge over everything in life from her age to who her daughter Serena can date. She so badly wanted to see Serena marry a witch to keep the family lineage alive - even going so far as to cast spells to sabotage their love. Game | The Sims 3: Supernatural |
Playability | Playable |
World | Moonlight Falls |
Doreen Caliente is a pre-made playable witch residing in Moonlight Falls, the world shipped with The Sims 3: Supernatural. She lives with her daughter, Serena Durwood (née Caliente), her son-in-law, Rick, and her two grandchildren, Zack and Zoe. She is said to be a control freak, especially in regard to her daughter's personal life. Unfortunately for Rick, Doreen strongly disapproves of her daughter's marriage to a normal Sim and she tries her best to tear the two apart, devoting much of her time to playing the meanest of tricks on him.
After several unsuccessful attempts, Doreen enlisted the help of Flora Goodfellow, a fairy residing in Moonlight Falls, to curse Rick with large ears. However, her plan backfired as Serena loves big ears. In addition to her tricks and manipulations of her son-in-law, Doreen is known to use her magic for personal gain, as exemplified by her use of an age-reversing elixir on herself. This has allowed her to remain in the adult life stage, just as her daughter currently is. Despite this, however, she possesses no alchemy skill when first played.
Doreen is unemployed at the start of the game and has no skills learned. She has a secret spellcasting skill level of 8, however, allowing her to perform a wide variety of spells, charms and curses.

Trivia[]
- Doreen is a clear reference to the character Endora from the popular 1960s television series Bewitched, as both characters are powerful and manipulative witches, as well as overbearing mothers with much to say about their respective daughters' personal lives. Both Doreen and Endora openly disapprove of their daughters' marriage to a mortal/normal Sim and devote much of their time to tormenting their sons-in-law. In addition to their similarities in personality, both characters possess a similar taste in fashion.
- Due to her disapproval of her daughter's marriage to a mortal/normal Sim, Doreen could also be seen as a reference to Penny Halliwell from the 1990s television series Charmed.
- While the Durwood family serve as a parody of the Stephens family from Bewitched, they are actually the second reference to the popular sitcom. The first was the Claremont family of Lucky Palms, wherein Endora Kravitz stood in for Doreen as a parody of the primary antagonist, Endora.
- Her name, "Doreen Caliente," is a reference to the real-life Doreen Valiente, a famed author and Wiccan who wrote much of the early religious texts of the Gardnerian tradition of Wicca.
- Despite sharing their surname, any relationship between Doreen and the Caliente family is unknown.
- Doreen is the author of Alchemy Vol. 3: Omnimustericon: The Ultimate Book of Shadows, an alchemy skill book. This goes against her known skills within the game, however, as she has no skill points in alchemy, nor in writing.
