The Curious family has been closely associated with weird science ever since they appeared in The Sims 2. Aliens do not yet exist in The Sims 3, but the Curiouses reappeared in The Sims 3: Ambitions as a family deeply interested in science.
Biography
The Sims 2
The Curiouses in The Sims 2 have a fondness for aliens. Glarn Curious was abducted by Pollination Technician 9 and had twin alien girls, Lola and Chloe Curious. Pascal Curious is pregnant with an alien child when the family is first played, and Jenny Smith married Pollination Technician 9, her half-sisters' father, and has had two children with him (Johnny and Jill Smith). Vidcund will be abducted and impregnated, if directed by the player to one of the telescopes when the player first starts playing the household.
Their starting funds are $4242. This may be a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything.
The Sims 3
Marshall Curious is a busy scientist in Twinbrook, but the family struggles to pay the mortgage. Cherish Curious took up teaching to make ends meet, and discovered that she loved the career. Notzo Curious, grandfather of the Curious brothers and Jenny in The Sims 2, is only a toddler in The Sims 3: Ambitions, and is best friends forever with Zo Whelohff. The Curious family live far out of town, in one of Twinbrook's many swamps.
The Curiouses are one of the few families that have five generations along with Monty and Capp family.
Onomatology
Curious -- As in curious.
Pascal Curious : Hebrew for "associated with Easter (or Passover)". Pascal was a famous French Mathmatician. A pascal is also the S.I. unit of pressure.
Vidcund Curious (Pascal's younger brother) : Unknown
Lazlo Curious (Pascal's youngest brother) : Means rules with glory. Also spelled Laszlo.
Glarn Curious (Pascal's father): So the name sounds like darn curious. Or named after a song that came with The Sims: Superstar, Glabe Glarn could be sung in studio town to make money and raise star level. View the song Here
Kitty Curious (Pascal's mother): her name might be a play on the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat."
Glabe Curious (Glarn's first wife): named after a song that came with The Sims: Superstar, Glabe Glarn could be sung in studio town to make money and raise star level.
Notzo Curious (Zo's husband): possibly meaning 'Not so curious' as if signifying that he was not a very curious Sim.
Zo Curious (Notzo's wife): possibly meaning 'So curious' as if signifying that she was a very curious Sim.
Cherish Curious (Notzo's mother): possibly meaning 'Curiously careful' or 'curious careful'
Bunny Curious (Notzo's sister): her name means 'small curious rabbit'
Marshall Curious (Notzo's father): probably meaning 'Curious Marshal'
