The family's last name hints towards the family's "uptight" behavior, suggesting that if a nearby sim acts immodestly or in a wild manner, a family member would get his or her "bottom" in a "crumple." The known members are Prudence, Simon, Agnes, Mrs. Crumplebottom and Cornelia Goth (née Crumplebottom).
During their lifetime, the Crumplebottoms lived in Sunset Valley and Pleasantview, but in The Sims 2 all of them are deceased save Mrs. Crumplebottom, said to be a distant relation to the rest of the family.
