Cassandra Goth ( /kəˈsændrə ɡɑːθ/) is a pre-made, playable Sim who first appeared in The Sims. She is the daughter of Mortimer and Bella Goth and grew up at 5 Sim Lane. She later moved to 165 Sim Lane in Pleasantview alongside her family. Between The Sims and The Sims 2, she got her younger brother Alexander. Shortly before the start of The Sims 2, her mother Bella went missing, having been abducted by aliens, and hasn't yet returned.

In the alternate universe of The Sims 4, Cassandra lives at Ophelia Villa in Willow Creek, alongside her father, Mortimer, her mother, Bella, and her brother, Alexander.

Biography[]

Life leading up to The Sims (console)[]

In The Sims for console, Cassandra lives with her parents, Mortimer Goth and Bella Goth, in 5 Sim Avenue. She is a B student. She has the same black pigtails, white blouse, and black shoes as in the PC version, but now has pink sunglasses with black lenses and a black skirt. She shares a 20+ relationship with both her parents. She likes to play with her toys, play the piano, feed the fish, and mourn at the tombstones. If the player leaves her alone when first playing her family she will go to the telephone and wonder what it is. Clues in the game, such as Mortimer's choice in career and their neighbor Betty Newbie's younger appearance, indicate the game takes place shortly before the PC version. This is supported by the fact that Cassandra is a B student in the console version but an A student in the PC version.

With Free Will on, Cassandra and her family will only mourn at the tombstones even if they are in a bad mood.

Life leading up to The Sims[]

In The Sims, she is a child living with her parents, Mortimer Goth and Bella Goth. Cassandra is an A student and enjoys having tea with her grandmother, Cornelia Goth. She also enjoys reading and playing with her toys. She wears round, horn-rimmed glasses; a white-collared blouse; a blue, knee-length skirt; white socks and black shoes. Cassandra is shy and doesn't say much.

Life leading up to The Sims 2[]

In the 25 years that have theoretically passed between The Sims and The Sims 2, she makes her reappearance living in Goth Manor with her aging father, Mortimer Goth, and her bright younger brother, Alexander Goth. She has grown into an adult and honors her last name. She wears a long, black, Medieval-style dress; host pigtails; round glasses and black high heel ankle boots. She rarely smiles, according to her bio. Cassandra is voiced by Gerri Lawlor.

She is engaged to marry Don Lothario and madly in love with him, but does not realize—or appears to be unaware—that he is also involved with several other women. She is also unaware of the crush that her neighbor Darren Dreamer has on her. Due to Darren's love for Cassandra, there is a chance he may flirt with her, making her fall in love with him. If Cassandra is engaged, she would be cheating on Don.

Like her father, Mortimer, she works in the science career track, where she is a field researcher. Cassandra is an adult and becomes an elder in 26 days. She is generally shy and neat, and is occasionally playful; her favorite activities are playing piano and reading. Cassandra wants to have a family and live a normal life.

When the Goths are first played in The Sims 2, Cassandra and Don are in the back garden, and a game tip instructs that the player should give Don a romantic gesture to spark things off. It then tells the player to marry them, which can be achieved by simply clicking the wedding arch, followed by the interaction option of "Get married". In these circumstances, Don usually leaves Cassandra at the altar, leaving her in a bad mood and, if Nightlife or later is installed, furious with Don. However, it is possible to have Don marry her by simply getting the relationship higher and doing more than just a kiss (getting the relationship to 100).

She is close friends with Mary-Sue Pleasant and has been since they were children. One of the Pleasant family's storytelling pictures suggests that Cassandra was the Maid of Honor at Mary-Sue's wedding. Although Cassandra and Mary-Sue each have memories of meeting one another during their childhoods, Mary-Sue in-game is much older than Cassandra and thus would not have been a child at the same time as Cassandra.

Strangely, while Cassandra is a Cancer in The Sims, she is a Virgo in The Sims 2. She and her friend, Mary-Sue Pleasant, are the only pre-made adults in Pleasantview to have at least one living parent. Cassandra always visits the Pleasant family the first day the family is played.

If Darren invites Cassandra over when first playing the Dreamer family, there is a high chance that she will flirt with him autonomously. It is unknown if Cassandra ever had feelings for Darren during development. But it is a strong possibility since Sims generally don't flirt autonomously with Sims they've never had feelings for. The likelihood of Cassandra flirting with Darren autonomously implies that she probably had feelings for him at some point during development. But her memories and relationship flags were modified prior to release.

If The Sims 2: FreeTime is installed, her predestined hobby will be tinkering, due to her shy personality.

In the neighborhood pictures for Pleasantview, Cassandra is wearing a different dress, which is black with faint white lines. Additionally, her hair is slightly different from the way it is in actual gameplay. The dress and hairstyle shown in the storytelling pictures appear to have been removed from the game itself.

Life leading up to The Sims 2 (GBA)[]

Cassandra appears with her family in The Sims 2 (Game Boy Advance). Her mother Bella has either not been abducted yet or has reunited with her family, likely after the events of both The Sims 2 (PSP) and The Sims Social (though this is unconfirmed). At the end of each episode, Cassandra rates the episode according to whether or not an errand has been completed.

Life leading up to The Sims 4[]

Cassandra appears in The Sims 4 alternate continuity as a teen, living with her parents and younger brother in the Ophelia Villa in Willow Creek.

When first played, Cassandra is a high school student with a C grade. She is 13 days away from becoming a young adult. She wears black pigtails; black square glasses; a black sweater; a black and a gray check skirt; gray and white knee-high socks and black boots with white laces. She carries a homework book in her inventory, has two points in the violin skill, and has the Musical Genius aspiration. She is friends with her parents and brother but has no relationships outside of her household. She has the creative and gloomy traits and the muser bonus trait.

This version of Cassandra has lighter skin than most previous incarnations of the character, and there is a much smaller age gap between her and her younger brother than there was in The Sims 2. However, Cassandra and her family were given an official makeover shortly after the release of patch 129 of the base game, which made her skin tone darker again.^[1]

There is also another version of the Goths on Maxis' Gallery page, under the name New Home New Goths, with outfits from the The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator. In the trailer for this game pack, the Goths appear in these outfits to match the home renovation they receive.

Trivia[]

She may be based on/a spoof of Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family, due to her appearance and personality.
Although she is named Carin Spökh in the Swedish version of The Sims, Cornelia's bio still refers to her as Cassandra. This was most likely a translation error.
She is the only pre-made playable child from The Sims who isn't married in The Sims 2, however at the start of the game, she is engaged.
She is the only pre-made playable child from The Sims not to appear in The Sims 3. Daniel Pleasant appears as a young adult in Sunlit Tides while John and Jennifer Burb appear in Dragon Valley as young adults.
