A casino is a place where Sims bet money on activities and optionally order drinks.
The Urbz: Sims in the City[]
South Side Bridge has a VIP section called Lucky Six. After meeting some prequisites, including building up South Side Bridge Rep and learning the "Gamble" interaction from befriending Pamela Sneer, Sims can play on roulette and craps tables, and can also sit on the floor and in some way gamble with another Sim.
For roulette, the player can choose to bet on "Black", "Red", or "Number".
The Urbz: Sims in the City (handheld)[]
A casino is available on Olde Salty's Riverboat. It originally belonged to Pepper Pete, who mysteriously disappeared and left Olde Salty to run it. Above the casino is a residence that the player can rent and the Captain's Quarters, where Olde Salty lives. In the files, the casino is referred to as the "Moogoo Lounge."
It is regularly visited by Olde Salty, Berkeley Clodd, Giuseppi Mezzoalto, and Jack I. Deal (before he works at the smoothie bar). It hosts the gambling minigame Moogoo Monkey and a tropical-themed food bar where the player can buy food and drinks.
It is said to hold much of Miniopolis' unscrupulous activities. The casino is vital in the Mission, "Mission for the Mann," where the player is required to play a singular hand of Moogoo Monkey (note: the player can only ever play a single hand of Moogoo Monkey at a time), where after the player is approached by Giuseppi Mezzoalto, who gives them instructions on how to find a suitcase of a million simoleons (that the player needs to bug before returning to Giuseppi).
The Sims 2[]
The Sims 2: Nightlife introduced a poker table, where Sims can place bets. The closest thing to a prebuilt casino in the game is Lucky Shack Cards and Drink in Downtown.
The Sims 2: University added pool tables where players can "Hustle", i.e. play a billiards match with bets. The shrine in The Sims 2: Bon Voyage bears faint semblance to slot machines, since winning Simoleons is a possible outcome from it.
The Sims 2 (Nintendo DS)[]
The Snake-Eyes Casino is the first room that the player is required to build. The player can play Keelhaulin' cards for a little bit of money or Moogoo Monkey after it is unlocked by either having both the Sims 2 DS and GBA in the DS at the same time or by playing on December 14th.
The Sims 2 (GBA)[]
The Snake-Eyes Casino is a building in the main square of Strangetown in this version of the game. It is owned and ran by Pepper Pete, who can usually be found in it. The player can play Keelhaulin' Cards, a pirate-themed gambling game, for money. On the left of the main room of the casino is a hotel room that Luthor Bigbucks stays at and to the right of it is a sauna that Misty Waters can often be found in.
The casino is relevant in a few episodes. In the episode "Buried by the Mob," the player needs to help Ara Fusilli get into the casino by distracting Giuseppi Mezzoalto. And in the episode "A Brand New Scent," the player is required to cancel Auda Sherif's reservation at the casino.
The Sims 3 Store[]
The Gold Edition of Lucky Palms, as well as various object sets (e.g. Up The Ante Collection), provide the Hit 'em Harder Blackjack Table, a slot machine, and/or the prebuilt casino lot Lucky Simoleon Casino. Some sets or individual listings, e.g. Double Down Poker and Roulette Bundle, provide poker and roulette tables.
Sims can play with buy-ins of either §100, §500, §1,000, or §10,000. On residential lots, Sims can also choose "Just for Fun (No Simoleons)"; they will however lose or win money if they play with buy-ins even on their own residential lot.
The Aces Gone Wild arcade game included in the Regency Arcade set, appears to be strongly based on video poker, but does not hand out rewards or increase the Gambling skill. The crystal ball has a substantial element of luck, but does not directly cash out Simoleons.
Notes[]
- Although a slot machine was added in The Sims: Livin' Large, it is unclear if it can be placed on public lots.
