Each household can have up to 12 sims, with up to 8 passive sims (this includes children, toddlers, and babies).

Players cannot leave their owned/cleared area except onto the sidewalk. Other lots are not visible from the current one.

Build features[]

Multi-Story Builds[]

As of the 11 May, 2020 update, players can build multistory homes by purchasing a "build permit." Initially only 3 levels were possible but the option for a fourth was added in a later update.

Each build permit only unlocks one additional level and buying a permit on one lot will not unlock that level on other lots. Players cannot skip levels, such as buying the 4th level but not the 2nd or 3rd. Players only have the option to unlock a floor once they have reached the necessary player level.

Floor Level Cost Wait Player Level
2 20,000 12hr 14
3 80,000 2d 25
4 200,000 3d 30

Wait times can be skipped with Sim Cash but it is quite expensive.

Stairs are available but are unnecessary. Sims do not need them to move between floors. There is not currently a way to manually make sims use the stairs even for aesthetic or storytelling purposes.

Windows & Doors, Walls, Floors, & Roofs[]

Each type of window has a set height on the wall, which cannot be lowered or raised. Paintings or other wall decor cannot be placed above or below windows.

Floors can only be applied to an entire room at a time. Floor tiles cannot be placed outside, but there are a few outdoor carpets intended to look like flooring.

Wallpapers can be applied either by room or by entire wall. The options for "Interior Paint" and "Exterior Paint" are identical, choosing one or the other from the build catalogue only affects where the paint is applied when you click on a room.

Roofs are created algorithmically based on the shape of the rooms on the previous floor. Users can choose the roof texture and the pitch of the roof, but they cannot design the roof layout. Roofs are always hipped and have small eaves. Unlike in other sims games, windows, doors, and staircases can intersect roofs.
