The Box of Mystery is an object introduced in The Sims 3: Showtime. It is a box that Sims in the Magician career receive when they reach level 3, and which they can use to perform illusions "Swords of Destiny" and "Vanish Sims". Sims can also WooHoo in the Box of Mystery.
Contrary to popular belief it's impossible for a sim to die from the Box of Mystery. When the Swords of Destiny trick fails the box will shake and the sim inside will be angry at the magician, meanwhile if the Vanishing sim trick fails the sim will appear in their sleep-wear instead. Both of these outcomes will lead to an embarrassed moodlet for the Magician and will negatively impact any ongoing Gig's rating similarly to other tricks.
