Body is a skill in The Sims and The Sims 2. It determines the Sim's physical prowess and is useful in some jobs that require a Sim to be strong.
The animations for many activities change as a Sim's body skill increases.
Benefits[]
- Advancement in several careers, which are the athletic, criminal, law enforcement, military,[TS2] natural scientist,[TS2:U] show business,[TS2:U] adventurer,[TS2:S] dance,[TS2:FT] entertainment[TS2:FT] and oceanography[TS2:FT] tracks.
- Increases a Sim's chances of winning a fight, staying on the snowboarding half pipe[TS:V], mechanical bull[TS:HP] or dance sphere[TS2:NL] without falling, and earning points in games found in many vacation spots.[TS:V]
- When a teen gains at least eight body points, he or she is able to gain the Hogan Scholarship for Athletics.[TS2:U]
- May increase a pregnant Sim's ability to keep from throwing up.[TS2]
- Reduces the likelihood of servers working in restaurants dropping trays.[TS2:OFB]
Ways to increase the body skill[]

- Working out in front of a stereo or television.[TS2]
- Do yoga: has less effect on hygiene and energy.[TS2]
- Using the obstacle course or the punching bag, which are the career rewards for the military and athletic careers.[TS2]
- Riding the dance sphere.[TS2:NL]
- Bowling.[TS2:NL]
- Studying body from the Books First for Learning bookshelf, which is the career reward for the education career.[TS2:S]

Body and children[]
This section describes features that are only available in The Sims 2.
Most ways of building body skill can only be done by teens, adults and elders, but there are some ways kids can increase their body skill.
- Swimming in the pool or working out in front of a stereo. (This may depend on which expansion packs are installed.)
- Using the obstacle course or the punching bag.
- Bowling.[TS2:NL]
- Studying body from the Books First for Learning bookshelf.[TS2:S]
- Being taught body skill by an older Sim who has at least 7.5 points in the skill and the Impart Knowledge aspiration benefit.[TS2:FT]
- Using the ballet barre.[TS2:FT]
- Using the basketball court.[TS2:FT]
- Jumping rope.[TS2:AL]
- Playground equipment.[TS2:AL]
At first, it was believed that toddlers could gain body skill from singing the Nursery Rhyme[TS2:FT] after learning it. However, this was due to a glitch which caused the wrong pop-up message to appear when a skill point was gained. This was corrected in the FreeTime patch, though it does not appear in the patch notes.
