Baking is science in action. You can't just throw random ingredients into a bowl like some chef. You have to have a plan. Fortunately, the plan involves large helpings of sugar. Increasing your baking skill will unlock new Baked Goods for your Oven and Cupcake Factory.

Baking is a skill in The Sims 4: Get to Work. It is similar in many ways to the cooking skill, except that the related recipes are all baked goods.

Learning

Sims can build baking skill by reading a skill book, using the cupcake factory to "Bake Pastries", or by making any dish under the "Bake" option on a fridge or oven. As with the cooking skill, Sims unlock more recipes the higher they build their baking skill. Almost all baking recipes are suitable for vegetarians, except for Fish Pie, Shepard's Pie, Salmon Croquettes, Soft Shell Crab Cake, and Bacon Wrapped Doughnuts.

Abilities

Unlike cooking, baking offers only one unlockable ability. At level 3 Sims gain the ability to decorate cookies, cakes and cupcakes to increase their quality. This costs §10 and improves the value of the dish by 50%. This option is only available on cakes made under the "Bake" options.

Trivia

• The authors of the baking skill books are all references to The Muppets. Volumes 1 and 2 are written by Bill Barretta and Frank Oz, both of whom are (or were) Muppet performers, and volume 3 is written by The Swedish Chef, who is one of the Muppets.
• Baked goods introduced prior to Get to Work are still part of the cooking skill. This mod[1] moves them to the baking skill.
• The “Voodoo Doll Donuts” is a nod to popular donut chain Voodoo Donuts, based out of Portland, Oregon.
