Avant garde is a mental trait introduced in The Sims 3: University Life. It conflicts with the can't stand art and easily impressed traits. It is first available for teens.

Avant Garde Sims know what's art and what's not, and don't mind letting others know. It's tough to please an Avant Garde type!

Attributes

• Avant garde Sims build the street art skill 15% faster than other Sims.
• Avant garde Sims have a 5% higher chance of creating a masterpiece mural.
• The value of street art increases by 15% if the artist is an avant garde Sim.
• Avant garde Sims strongly benefit from undertaking a fine arts major while studying at college.
• Avant garde Sims can write poetry at level 2 of the writing skill and the satire genre at level 4.
• An avant garde Sim will find Banky's Street Art Kit in their initial inventory.

Special Interactions

• Avant garde Sims can use the "Describe Radical Idea", "Enthuse About Obscure Music", and "Condescend The Mainstream" interactions on other Sims.
• Avant garde Sims can use the "Accuse Of Being A Sellout" interaction on other Sims as a mean interaction.
