Unlike other games that are played purely with the feet, or purely with the hands, foot-and-hand-ball is played with both, depending on the phase of the game. Perhaps that explains its prolate spheroid shape that makes it completely impossible to kick, throw, or catch.
The foot-and-hand-ball is a small sports object found in the "Entertainment" catalog in the The Sims 3. It can be kicked or thrown, hence the name, "Foot-and-hand". It builds fun and also increases the athletic skill.
When the ball is selected to play catch with, the two Sims will run over to the nearest outdoor area with flat terrain to play, taking up a 9x1 area. Sims with higher Athletic skills will throw the ball harder. NPCs will rarely play catch autonomously unless it's with child Sims, despite many of the adult Sims having the football in their inventories.
Trivia[]
- The object can only be bought in Buy Mode on residential lots, and not on community lots.
- The foot-and-hand-ball resembles the ball used in American and Canadian football. The name pokes fun at the fact that, in those sports, the ball is almost always carried or thrown, and is rarely kicked.
- The television channel "Sports Universe" features footage from a Madden NFL game where a hard-to-identify team with white-black outfits is on offense against Green Bay Packers, scoring a touchdown after a 3-down drive from circa 33 yards.
- In The Sims 3: University Life, football and rugby are two of the 10 options offered as collegiate sports at stadiums in Sims University.
- One of the video games exclusive to the Holo-Computer[TS3:ITF] is "Robo Football", a sidescroller with 2 teams of 4 large robots each, and unusual strategies like the teams at scrimmage being circa 10 yards apart, and running back to the scrimmage line after catching a forward pass.

This mid-level football features enhanced grip, while still having a smooth steady aerodynamic profile. However, getting hit in the face with it will still hurt.

Shiny! Nothing says 'sport' like solid gold. This football can be a memory cherished for a lifetime and can continue to help improve your fitness, even if others around you aren't improving their physical stamina. Let's hope that it does not hurt as much as a block of gold if your loved ones get hit with your excellent throws.
Afterschool activity[]
Also in High School Years, high school students can enter the football team member 3-level afterschool activity.
Gallery of football fields[]
By default, none of these fields have goal posts, though they can with some effort be added with poles (especially after the patch that allowed 3-floor poles), flooring, and mods that allow precise enough lot sizes that the fields can be turned into proper lots. They do however clearly have endzones (though to which extent they have them varies), and several of them have decorative spectator stands.
Many of the fields below can just as easily be set up for rugby. However, Sims playing catch on a field will ignore the backwards pass (onside) rule.
