Ambrosia

Ambrosia is a very unusual food, which seems to be a solid mass of a combination of Life Fruit and Death fish, served with a small portion of raw ingredients to accompany it. When it's very fresh, it gives off bizarre, sparkling, multicoloured steam. This is a single-serving meal that is available to cook all day.

Effects

When eaten, there will be a large, impressive looking explosion of energy around the Sim, triggering three effects:

  • Restores the Hunger Motive to full;
  • Bestows the Divine Meal Moodlet on the Sim, boosting their mood by 75 for an entire week;
  • Resets the Sim's age to the start of that life stage - for example, if a Sim is 25 days into the young adult stage, they will be reset to 0.

Ambrosia also has a more well known effect that only applies to Ghosts. When they eat it, it resurrects them, turning them back into a normal Sim at the age stage they were at at the time of death.  This effect DOES apply to the ghost children of ghosts, even though they were never killed.  The sim acquires the Divine Meal Moodlet , floats in the air, and a note is given stating that the sim has been "Resurrected" as they return to their original coloring.

NOTE: The Sim's age reset is currently slightly bugged - if you eat the Ambrosia at the day of Sim's birthday, it will reset the age bar, but the Sim will age up later that day. You can avoid it by eating a Life Fruit after you are done with the Ambrosia.

Requirements

The only downside to Ambrosia is the fact that it has a few slightly irritating requirements.

  • Firstly, it needs Level 10 Cooking skill to actually cook the dish, and it requires an expensive recipe book (§ 12,000) from the bookstore to learn.
  • Secondly, it needs Level 7 Fishing skill to get its first component, Death fish. These fish can only be caught from Pleasant Rest Graveyard between midnight and 5AM, with Angelfish bait. This can be found out in-game by using a Angelfish until catching the Death fish or by reading the Level 7 Fishing Book "Fishing for the Dead: Death fish and Vampire fish on the Line" that can be bought for §2,000 at Divisadero Bookshop. If Sim is an angler, you won't need bait or the time constraint to catch fish ... it can even be caught in other locations. They have been caught in the ocean, ponds most distant from the center of town, and in the pond behind the Science lab.
  • Finally, it needs Life fruit, which is only growable from Unknown Special Seeds/Life Seeds, both of which are only plantable at Level 7 Gardening. They can be found by finding their seeds randomly scattered about town, especially around or in the Graveyard or as a reward from an Opportunity from the EverFresh Delights Supermarket. Or you can just cheat and download the mod where you can buy it at the grocery store here at modthesims.

All of these ingredients are unobtainable from stores (without mods), so these skills are required to make this food. Also, Ambrosia cannot normally be duplicated in a Food Replicator; a glitch in the game allows you to store ambrosia in the Food Replicator if you start cooking it and cancel the cooking action when its sprite changes to a bowl. The food replicator will then give you finished Ambrosia dishes. You can, however store it in a refrigerator, as it will "divide" the dish into numerous servings until it spoils.
