Actors must join one of two agencies to start getting auditions: A.I. Staffing Agency or Everyday Extras Talent Agency. Either agency will send notifications reminding their actors to find auditions and get gigs to start earning an income.
Actors must select from a list of auditions to attend, each audition requiring the Sim to have a certain skill for the acting gig. Actors will either succeed or fail in the audition. Auditions may be bypassed once the Sim becomes a three-star celebrity and obtains the "Established Name" perk.
When actors have an acting gig, they must travel to the studio lot and perform their daily tasks, consisting of getting their costume fitted, hair styled, practicing lines, talking with the director, etc. When the actor is ready to perform, they can speak to the director before going to the main stage. On the main stage, the actor must perform certain actions for different scenes. If Sims do not have a high acting skill, they can choose to play it safe or do a risky performance. If they succeed, they will receive a significant boost to their performance. On the other hand, failing will have a large negative impact on their performance.
Actors must choose an agency to join to be able to do an audition for gigs.

Acting gigs[]
Sims can choose audition gigs from their cell phone. Each audition has a recommended skill, and Sims who meet or exceed that recommendation have a higher chance of success. Sims can either pass the audition or fail. Sims who fail will not be able to go to the studio and finish the gig, but will instead need to find another gig.
Once an actor passes their audition, the job panel will show a list of tasks to perform before the gig. Completing this tasks increases the chance of a successful performance.
There are four types of acting gigs. Commercial gigs are available right away, low-budget TV gigs are available at level 3, high-budget TV gigs are available at level 5, and movie/film gigs are available starting at level 8.
When it is time for a actor's gig to begin, the player will be prompted to choose whether to follow their Sim to the studio, or send them to work on their own. Sending a Sim to work alone results in them disappearing off the lot for around 8 hours, similar to how non-active careers in The Sims 4 function. If the player follows their Sim to work, they will be taken to the studio hidden lot. There, the player will be given a series of preparation tasks to perform. Once the actor is ready, they can tell the director and go to the stage. The scenes that the player's Sim needs to complete will appear in the tasks panel, and X's on the ground will light up, showing the Sim where to stand.
While performing a scene, the player can choose whether their Sim will do a risky version or the scene, or a normal one. Risky scenes that are performed successfully will give a larger boost to the Sim's overall performance, while unsuccessful attempts will have a larger negative on a Sim's performance than normal. Having a high acting skill and completing a scene's associated prep tasks increase the chance of risky performances being successful.
Preclinical Pharmaceuticals is looking for actors to play happy doctors and pleasantly recovered patients for a variety of their prescription drugs. The great thing about their products are that they can say there are no known side effects. It is true that they don't do testing and therefore don't look for side effects. Those are just pesky details.

Outcomes[]
There are four possible outcomes for acting gigs. From worst to best performance, they are: tin, bronze, silver, and gold. Good performances raise a Sim's performance meter in the job panel, which will lead to promotions.
Better performances yield high pay.
The following things positively impact a Sim's acting gig performance:
One gig an actor can get is for a TV Show sitcom about friends called "The Urbz", which is a reference to The Urbz: Sims in the City.
When an actor is with the A.I. Staffing Agency, they have a chance to be given this reminder: "We ran 14 million simulations to see your outcome of your next acting gig. In all the one's you practiced your scenes before filming you had resounding success". This is a reference to the movie Avengers: Infinity War, a specific line the character Doctor Strange says.
One gig is for "Treasures of Aarbyville," which is a reference to pirate territory Aarbyville in The Sims Medieval.
The beginner "Salty Suds Commercial" gig, in which the player's Sim endorses a new chemical cleaner product for OmegaCo, is in reference to the industrial mega-corporation in SimCity (2013): Cities of Tomorrow.
