In Sugar Maple Coast, the Abandoned Silver Mine is a rabbit hole. It is nestled northeast of town, near Augustus Memorial Park. Gems and metals occasionally spawn around the mine. Glowing eyes are visible inside.
Like the mausoleum and lighthouse, Sims and pets can explore inside the mine and find various items. The dialogue differs depending on whether the explorer is a Sim or a pet.
According to the Necessity is the Mother of Invention mystery, a mining accident occured long ago that caused it to be closed down. A painting of this incident was made by an eyewitness and is displayed in the town's art gallery.
During the Dog Days of Summer mystery, an unseen boy named Timmy is trapped in the mine.
